Hey Philly! Looking for great live jazz music or just a fun Thursday night out? You're in the right place! We offer three levels of Lindy Hop & Swing Dance lessons -- no partner or experience required -- followed by a social dance party to the city's best swing DJs, plus live bands on 4/3 & 4/10! All Thursday night swing dance events are held at the Philadelphia Ethical Society (1906 Rittenhouse Square)
April 3rd: Live Band Debut -- Annie & the Fur Trappers! + 4-Week Rhythm & Groove Series Start
8-9pm:
Lindy 101 Lesson: Intro to Lindy Hop & Jazz with Kate Holden & Mike McDermott
Drop in any week & learn the basics of Lindy Hop and a few solo jazz moves in this beginner-oriented class. This class will have some overlapping and some new elements every week, and we recommend taking it multiple times before advancing to the topics class.
Rhythm & Groove Monthly Series Week 1 with Steven Fox & Nick Cruickshank
What sets awesome dances apart? The ones that feel like they're one with the music! Learn how to easily predict what will come next in a tune, emphasize different parts of the music in your movements, create fitting variations, and play off of your partner's ideas -- all while keeping the flow. It's musicality and more!
Band Night Bal Lesson (all levels welcome!): Beginner Balboa with Brennan & Alex DeVoe
Balboa, one of Lindy's sister styles, is perfect for cozy dances in close quarters, fun momentum, and conserving energy on faster tunes.
9-11pm: Social dance with LIVE BAND: Annie & the Fur Trappers
Pricing: $15 / $10 for students (Lindy101 included) | +$5 / +$3 students for Bal Class | Monthly Call & Response series: $80 general / $53 students
April 10th: LIVE BAND -- Chris Oatts & the Elling-Tones

Lindy 101 Lesson: Intro to Lindy Hop & Jazz with Paulina Bargallo & Gracie Zhang
Drop in any week & learn the basics of Lindy Hop and a few solo jazz moves in this beginner-oriented class. This class will have some overlapping and some new elements every week, and we recommend taking it multiple times before advancing to the topics class.

Extended Topics Lesson (audition required): Exploring Rhythms with Special Guests Helen Garfinkle & Max Ramirez
We're so excited to welcome Helen & Max all the way from San Fransisco! So... you're having a great dance, and it's time for you to pull out your coolest rhythmic idea... and it brings the momentum of the dance to a screeching halt. What happened? In this class, we'll bring some of our favorite tough solo jazz breaks, as well as some cool moves, and workshop putting them together in our Lindy Hop while keeping an eye on the music, our partner, and the flow of the dance.

Extended Topics Lesson (audition required): Switch Dancing with Lauren Levey & Max VerNooy
Step outside the roles of lead and follow and enter the land of switching! By removing traditional "leading" and "following" constructs, we can find new ways to interact and play with our dance partners. Come explore how to become more comfortable with a music-first role-neutral mindset, and see how this expands your dancing!

Born of the artistry and innovation of Black dancers and musicians, and passed down orally and physically through generations, we take great care in sharing this art form in a way that is true to these sounds, styles, and values while encouraging the innovation that is hallmark of all Black social dances.
