Tuesday Lindy Hop Series at 1906 Rittenhouse Sq

March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31:

6:45-8pm: Tuesday Monthly Series: Speaking the Language of Rotation with Maryl & Max

In this five week series we will harness rotational movement in our own bodies and learn how to communicate it with our partner. We'll learn to distinguish between linear vs rotational momentum in both roles, and to use both types of movement to inform our dance choices. This class will focus on using rotational energy to add extra oomph to your basics and connection, and to unlock new vocabulary.

Pre-requisites: Dancers are expected to already be able to comfortably mix 6 & 8 count movements, swing out, and dance basic solo jazz. This series is for people who have already attended several Thursday series, and are looking for a more challenging class. All series include consistent teachers & classmates for rapid progress, video recaps for review & practice, and access to our Thursday 7:30pm practice space. Tuesday series also include complimentary admission to Thursday social dances! Limit 30 students.

Solo Jazz: Individuality & Style Series Week 1 with Nick Cruickshank

In this four week series you'll develop your own personalized style and voice in your dancing. We'll dance through foundational solo steps, classic charleston, and more, but the focus is all about how we make these movements, and the moments between them, our own. Learn it solo, dance it partnered, the lessons apply across both. This is the class I wish I had much earlier in my journey -- one that turns every new move into 100 possibilities, and helps you pick the version that feels "oh, so you" on the fly. Pre-requisites: dancers should be familiar and comfortable with the Lindy 101 content.
